04 Aug OnePlus announces another launch at the end of the year

After their successful launch of the OnePlus 2, with over 1 million people already signing up in the hopes of getting an invite to buy it, OnePlus have announced that they will be launching another handset at the end of the year. Exciting stuff!

The budget smartphone that first launched last year has made waves in the smartphone world since, being widely praised as one of the best budget smartphones money can buy. Sticking to the same invite-only method of selling their phones, OnePlus have seen great success with the OnePlus 2 which boasts a 5.5″ screen and 13MP camera to name but a few of its impressive specs.

Speaking to USA Today co-founder Carl Pei announced that the next OnePlus smartphone will be launched over Christmas, indicating that the handset may well be an advanced version of the recently launched OnePlus 2. No doubt the specs will be even more impressive and lots of people will be signing up for an invite this Christmas in the hopes of getting their hands on a new and improved version of the OnePlus 2.

Pei unfortunately refused to reveal any details about the upcoming phone, so as yet we don’t know anything about its technical specs or even if the invite system would be in place this time around. We do know that the OnePlus 2 features impressive specs such as a 5.5″ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, a 1.8GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 as well as 3GB/4GB of RAM and a choice of either 16GB or 64GB internal storage. It costs £339 for the 16GB model and £399 for the 64GB version, making it a very budget friendly smartphone. Potential buyers at the moment still need to sign up on the OnePlus website to get a place on the reservation list, they then stand a chance of being invited to buy.

We’re waiting with bated breath to find out what the new OnePlus handset will offer, if it’s going to outdo the upcoming OnePlus 2 then it’s sure to be an impressive smartphone. It looks like we’ll be waiting a while to find out.
