1. Turn it into an amazing 3D hologram
This video that surfaced on Youtube a couple of days ago shows how you can turn your phone into an amazing 3D hologram. This easy-to-make device is a cheap alternative to many fancy apps and gadgets that you can get to make your smartphone do weird and wonderful things, all you need is graph paper, a CD case, tape, a pen, scissors, a knife and your smartphone.
2. Identify songs
It’s so frustrating when you’re out and you hear a great tune but don’t have a clue what it is. Well, there are apps that you can get to identify songs and Microsoft and Google have also got their own in-built song identification tools as well. On your Windows phone you can simply tap the search button followed by the music icon and it will automatically listen to and identify the song. On your android phone you can tap the microphone symbol to the right of the search bar and the phone will get to work and identify the song for you (as long as said song is available on Google Play). Pretty cool huh!
3. Measure things using your camera
There are several apps available that allow you to measure anything and everything using your phones camera. Smart Measure Pro (pictured) for Android and Dot Measure Pro for iOS both allow you to measure things using your camera, whether you’re regularly measuring things as part of your job or you’re just a bit geeky and curious to measure random buildings and things when you’re out and about this app is a pretty awesome addition to your smartphone.
4. Turn it into a WiFi hotspot
This is a feature that many people still aren’t aware of, but one that could prove incredibly useful for people with multiple devices or lots of friends! You can turn your phone into a WiFi hotspot using your 4G LTE network as an internet connection for your other devices whilst out and about. Just go to settings, tethering & hotspot and just enable the hotspot feature. Carriers may charge extra for this but it is a pretty cool feature and a good WiFi solution when you’re out and about with multiple devices.
5. Monitor your heart rate
A useful trick for anyone big on fitness and health, some slightly newer smartphones have integrated heart rate monitors but there are also apps available that work with many smartphones to measure your heart rate. These include Instant Heart Rate and Runtastic Heart Rate which can help you take your fitness to the next level.
